Ontario Provincial Board Meeting Minutes of November 26th 2006.

1. Meeting called to order by President Tom Howe at 10:15 a.m.

2. James Lawrence, from the Canadian Outdoor Heritage Alliance presented Greg Balch, the Provincial Jakes Coordinator, with the Canadian Outdoor Heritage Alliance Education award for his work with over 54,000 children in the province of Ontario.

3. Jim Rance read the Amended minutes of the September 10th, 2006. George Thring made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Mike Evans seconded the motion. All were in favour and the Motion Was Passed to accept the minutes.

4. Financial Report:
Scott Grundy presented to the committee that as of November 26th, 2006 the account balance is $13,493.70. Scott also reported that there are six outstanding cheques, five of which are from last years Gun Draw and one to Bass Pro in the amount of $16,500.00. Scott also reported that he had received a cheque from Bass Pro in support of the NWTF's conservation efforts in the amount of $1,000.00. Tom Howe made a motion to accept the financial report as presented. Jack Playne seconded the motion. All were in favour and the Motion Was Passed.

5. Old Business:
Tom Howe reported to the committee that as of now the Extreme Jakes Event, that was held in Edgefield, South Carolina, has been terminated. Tom reported that the NWTF feels that the 700 - 900 other Jakes events throughout the NWTF is more than enough and that the Extreme Jakes event has run its course.

Greg Balch confirmed to the committee that the three day Provincial Jakes event would be held on July 13, 14, and 15, 2007. John Todd made a motion that the Provincial Board contribute $1,000.00 to the event and that the Dorchester Swamp Gobblers apply for $400.00 from the Super Fund and that $400.00 come from a provincial event application giving a total of $1,800.00 for the event. Glenn Kelly seconded the motion. All were in favour and the Motion Was Passed.

Mark Clifford reported to the committee that the Youth Outdoor Day, held on September 16th, 2006 was a complete success with over 400 youth in attendance, it was a great day had by all.

6. New Business:
Tom Howe reported to the committee that the Provincial Board banquet and awards would be held on Saturday February 3rd, 2007 in Almer at the Saxonia Hall. Tickets will be $30.00 per person. and each chapter will be allowed one free pass. Early bird raffle tickets will be sold at a cost of $100.00 for $300.00 worth of tickets. The 2007 core package will be here for this event, as well, February 4th, 2007 will be the next Provincial Board meeting and Tom Howe will book and confirm the date and location.

Regional Directors, Kevin Townsend and Mark Clifford; as well as, Tom Howe, John Todd, Jim Rance and Chris Patty will be attending the Pennsylvania State Chapters Seminar and Awards Banquet on January 5th, 2007.

John Todd reported to the committee that there are still outstanding cheques from the Provincial Gun Draw, but as things appear right now, we will definitely break even, but more than likely we will be $10,000.00 in the black. John Todd has also committed to looking after the Gun Draw next year. Thanks very much John.

Tom Howe awarded two $1,000.00 scholarships, the 2005 scholarships (retroactive) was awarded to the Elgin Wild Turkey Chapter and the 2006 scholarship went to the Lindsay Longbeards Chapter. Tom Howe also told the committee that next years Superfund proposals need to be to Randy Roloson by January 15th, 2007.

Jack Playne suggested to the committee that on a national level we as Canadian NWTF members should try and get more involved in the National vote. Ballets are available in the Turkey Caller Magazine and the Women in the Outdoors magazine. Jack also talked about an upcoming Leadership Conference to be held in Edgefield South Carolina on June 28th, 2007.

Glenn Kelley made a motion that the NWTF put a booth in the Spring Hunting and Fishing Show again. Mike Evans seconded the motion. After a brief discussion on what would be at the booth and who would man the booth all were in favour and the Motion Was Passed. The $500.00 cost of the booth would be paid for by the Provincial Board.

Kevin Townsend reported to the committee that he has received a letter from George Wallace of Bass Pro offering Bass Pro's support to NWTF's banquets. Kevin told the committee that George Wallace would require at least 60 days notice before an event. George Wallace's fax # is (905) 760-9170. Kevin also announced that he had ordered extra guns and if chapters wanted them for their banquets to contact him at (613) 967-0628.

Jack Playne put forth a motion that the Provincial Board support a former Jake in the amount of $100.00 in her efforts towards Habitat for Humanity in Southern Georgian and Doctors who Care in the Dominican Republic, where she would be nursing. Tom Skuce seconded the motion. A short discussion followed as to how the NWTF could get some positive publicity from this support of our former Jakes, i.e. pictures or letters. All were in favour and the Motion Was Passed.

John Todd reported to the committee that Chris Patty had written a draft letter, asking the MNR to update their 15 year Wild Turkey Plan. The suggestion was made that Tom Howe sign this letter and send it to the MNR on behalf of the Provincial Board. Jim Rance suggested a telephone call to Dave Reid might be in order before sending the letter.

Scott Grundy reported to the committee on the Alex Henderson problem. To date, Scott has received 16 cheques totaling $4,800.00, which leaves a balance of $9,343.46 still outstanding.

John Todd told the committee that the Gun Draw would be held at Tom Howe's house at 8:00 p.m. tonight (November 26, 2006). It will be an open draw and anyone who wants to attend is welcome.

7. Adjournment:
Tom Howe made a motion for adjournment at 1230 hours. Rick Furnish seconded the motion. All were in favour and the Motion Was Passed.

8. Meeting Schedule:
· February 4th, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at the East Elgin Sportsman Association. This meeting will include a Super Fund meeting and there will be a Turkey Shoot after the meeting at the club for whoever would like to participate.
